Sheffield Cathedral is delighted to be hosting the launch of the first full length biography of the hymn writer James Montgomery on Tuesday 15 June at 17.00.

Montgomery, whose most well known hymn, Angels from the Realms of Glory, is still a firm favourite at Christmas lived in Sheffield from the age of 21 and is commemorated in a statue adjacent to the Cathedral car park.

The author, Paul Taylor, will speak about his book, and Evensong on that day, sung by the gentlemen of the Cathedral choir, will include two hymns by Montgomery. There will be light refreshments served after Evensong to complete the celebrations.
